(AP) ? Mitt Romney's campaign is intensifying calls for his Republican opponents to concede defeat before the GOP presidential race's next big election, Tuesday in Illinois.

Romney extended his delegate lead Sunday in Puerto Rico by trouncing rival Rick Santorum. He scored all of the Caribbean island's 20 delegates. He's collected more delegates overall than his opponents combined.

Romney's wife, Ann, says the time has come for her husband's rivals to quit the race.

She told Illinois voters that Republicans should coalesce behind Romney so the party can focus on defeating President Barack Obama.

Romney is poised to win the delegate battle in Illinois, even if he loses the popular vote. That's because of missteps by Santorum's shoestring operation.
