Pet Pardons News | Meet Zinnie The Thoroughbred Mare ? Pet ...

Zinnie was tossed aside at a livestock auction where killer buyers purchase horses to ship them to slaughter. ?When Zinnie arrived at the livestock auction she was confused and scared. ?Cows were bellowing, pigs were squealing, people were yelling, hitting, waving noisy whips and sticks. ?Zinnie was so scared and feared that she would be stepping into a horse killers trailer at the end of the day.

After watching many other horses go before her, she was herded into the auction ring, where the bidding for her life began. ?Horse killers saw her only as dollars on hooves, waiting and bidding, trying to make as much as they could off of her meat. ?Zinnie looked around for a friendly face in the sea of angry, calculating people. ?Desperately she looked back and forth, up and down the grandstand, hoping against hope that someone there would rescue her from the evil in the room. ?The winning bid was called: SAFER. ?The horse killers lowered their head, they had been outbid and her life was spared. ?They would wait to bid on the next horse.

SAFER (Sanoma Action For Equine Rescue) took Zinnie to ?a foster home where her fears began to calm and she finally knew love and kindness once again. ?She knew she was safe at last. ?Zinnie is a 14 year old Thoroughbred mare, about 15.2 hands (62?) tall. ?She has an old injury in her hips, which makes her unable to be ridden except possibly light riding.

SAFER has been reaching out to the horse community doing everything they can to find her a home as they are unable to keep her at her foster home much longer, and no other foster home has been found. ?Zinnie would love to have a forever home, and if no forever home can be found, she will be humanely euthanized.

Zinnie is very well trained, someone really took their time training her after her racing days. ?She loads and backs out of trailers expertly, very nice to handle, well mannered and loves attention. ?She loves to be groomed, petted, and spoiled rotten by people who love her.

Please advocate for sweet Zinnie. ?She doesn?t have much time and she needs a forever home to call her own. ?Horse rescues across the nation are overwhelmed with unwanted horses, and are forced to turn horses away due to lack of room and resources. ?Horses that are turned away have no positive options: horse?rescues?are their last option. ?Please support horse rescue: adopt, don?t breed or buy!
